On Day 3, a guided tour introduces us to the best of the city. Days 4 & 5. Into the Himalayas Taking a scenic train journey today, we cross the Ganges River. On Day 5, we board the UNESCO-listed Darjeeling Himalayan Railway. Days 6 & 7. Scenic Darjeeling We explore Ghoom’s monastery and the Himalayan Mountaineering Institute today. On Day 7, a Gurkha veteran’s son shares his father’s stories, before a tea tasting. Days 8 & 9. Into Bhutan Travelling by coach, we arrive in Phuentsholing. Day 9 includes a scenic drive through the Himalayas to Paro, where we tour sacred sites. Day 10. Tiger’s Nest Monastery Today, we visit the spectacular Tiger’s Nest Monastery, built in a cliffside, before stopping at the 7th- century Kyichu Lhakhang temple. Days 11-13. To Bhutan’s capital We visit the 15th-century Rinpung Dzong, then drive over the Dochula Pass. On Day 12, we travel to the Bhutanese capital, Thimphu. On Day 13, we visit Thimpu’s iconic monuments, then meet students of Bhutan’s traditional arts and visit a nunnery for a tea-offering. Day 14. Return to Kolkata Flying back to India, we check in to our five-star hotel in Kolkata, where we enjoy our final dinner together. Days 15 & 16.
