Spirit of the Himalayas & Amritsar’s Golden Temple Days 1 & 2. Arrival in Delhi Your tour begins with a flight from London to Delhi. Landing on Day 2, we check in to our five-star hotel. Days 3 & 4. Discovering Amritsar We take the Shatabdi Express and visit a traditional Punjab farm. On Day 4, we see the Jallianwala Bagh memorial, Partition Museum and the Changing of the Guard. You can then revisit the Golden Temple to see the enchanting Palki ceremony. Days 5 & 6. Into the Himalayas Driving to picturesque Palampur, we check in to our hillside hotel. On Day 6, we take a tour of the Wah Tea Estate and visit Dharamshala to see the Tibetan Museum and explore several monasteries. Days 7-9. To colonial Shimla We arrive in Shimla, the former summer capital of the British Raj. On Day 8, we enjoy a talk from a local author and ride the Himalayan Queen ‘toy train’, then return to Shimla for a tour. Day 9 is at leisure. Days 10-12. Spiritual Rishikesh Today, we check in to our hotel on the Ganges in Rishikesh. On Day 11, we visit several ashrams, cross the Ram Jhula suspension bridge and experience an Aarti ceremony. On Day 12, we tour Chaurasi Kutia, the ‘Beatles Ashram’, and enjoy a stroll along the banks of the Ganges. Day 13. Sightseeing in Delhi We tour characterful, historic Old Delhi, then continue into modern New Delhi, taking in the contrasts and historic architecture of the city. Day 14.
