Day 1. From London to Cairo Your holiday begins as you board your flight from London Heathrow to Cairo. On arrival, we transfer to the five-star Cairo Sheraton and meet our specialist tour guide, an expert Egyptologist, before our first dinner together. Day 2. Exploring Alexandria Travelling by First Class rail, we head north to the port city of Alexandria for a sightseeing tour of the city’s historical sites, before visiting the Library of Alexandria, the world’s most famous library of Classical antiquity. Day 3. El Alamein & Wadi El-Natrun This morning, we drive to the site of the El Alamein battlefield, one of the significant British victories of World War Two. We continue to a guided tour of the beautiful village of Wadi El-Natrun, before arriving in Cairo. Day 4. The Great Pyramids & Sphinx After breakfast, we visit the iconic pyramids, the most well-known of which is the Great Pyramid of Giza, Grand Tour of Egypt & Five-Star Nile Cruise 34 “The whole trip was mind-blowing and I’ll never forget the tigers.” Brian, 2024 YOUR ITINERARY the oldest of the Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, and the Great Sphinx. Today’s tour ends with a visit to the new Grand Egyptian Museum where you are free to explore its treasures. Day 5. By rail from Cairo to Luxor Embarking on a train journey from Cairo to Luxor today, we can admire incredible views and daily life along the Nile from the train windows. Days 6 & 7. Cruising along the Nile Today marks the start of a four-night cruise along the Nile from Luxor to Aswan. We visit the ancient Karnak Temple complex, the largest in Egypt and the striking Luxor Temple. On Day 7, we explore the spectacular Valley of the Kings, the Temple of Queen Hatshepsut and the tomb of Pharoah Seti I, considered one of the finest examples of Ancient Egyptian art. Days 8 & 9. To Edfu and Aswan Continuing our five-star cruise, we arrive in Edfu to tour its temple, the second largest and one of Egypt’s best preserved temples, before an excursion to the Kom Ombo Temple. Sailing to Aswan on Day 9, we visit the High Dam, the fascinating Philae Temple and the Unfinished Obelisk, before boarding a traditional sailing boat, a felucca, to Kitchener Island. Day 10. The temples of Abu Simbel We leave our cruise ship early this morning for a short flight directly to Abu Simbel to tour the colossal twin temples, situated on Lake Nasser, before transferring back to Cairo. Day 11. Guided tour of Cairo We are taken on a guided tour of the capital, visiting the Coptic Museum, the intriguing Coptic Hanging church – also known as the Suspended Church – and the Jewish Synagogue. Your afternoon is at leisure before we enjoy our final dinner overlooking the Nile. Day 12. Homeward bound After an early breakfast at our hotel, we are transferred to the airport for our flight back to London Heathrow.
